Heidi

Heidi Klum, born on 1 June 1973 in Bergisch Gladbach Germany. Erna Klum who was Heidi's maternal grandmother, was a professional hairdresser. Gunther Kum worked as a manager for a cosmetics business. Her father had previously been an executive in charge of production for the 4711 perfume company. Heidi grew in Bergisch Gladbach which is a town with a population of 70,000, just 6 miles east of Cologne. Former German-American model, Heidi Klum is now an actor and television host. Klum started her modeling career in 1992, while working as a discotheque barmaid. Her friend (Karin) advised the 18-year-old student to enter an German television talent show known as Model 92. The German women's magazine Petra sponsored the show which was a part of Thomas Gottschalk's late night talkshow. Klum took on 25,000 contestants from all over Germany as well as Europe until she was one of three semifinalists. In April of 1992, she won the highest prize of $300,000.
