Whitney Elizabeth Houston is the youngest of four children born in Newark, NJ on the 9th of August, 1963. Her parents are gospel vocalists Cissy Houston - born Emily Lee Drinkard - and John Russell Houston Jr. Whitney's cousin Dionne warwick was also an international singer. As a young girl, Houston started singing professionally in the church of New Hope Baptist of Newark alongside her mom on Chaka K's Im Every Woman in 1978. In 1981, she was a model, and was featured on the Seventeen album cover. Also, she provided the backing vocals for Lou Rawls and Jermaine. The vocals she sang with the New York-based band Material have attracted record companies of all sizes which included Arista. They signed her with Arista in 1983 where she continued to work for the rest of her career. The first Whitney Houston album was released in the year 1985. It would become one of the top-selling albums by an artist. Three songs, Saving All My Love To You, How WillI Know You're Giving Good Love and the Greatest Love of All came from the album. The songs contributed to Houston to achieve an all-time high of seven US top tens, which surpassed even The Beatles. The album was sold out of three million copies in its first year in the US as well as achieve a worldwide sales of 25 million, earning her the first of her six Grammies. Its Whitney 1987 album, which included The Place You Do Broken Hearts and I Wanna Dance With Somebody as popular songs, added to the success she had achieved. It is The Bodyguard 1992 which cemented her standing as one of the top artists around the globe. Although her movie performance and soundtrack weren't well received, the Dolly Parton cover I Will Always Love You and the accompanying album were dominant on the charts for singles and albums across the world for months. The album sold over 44 million copies. The same year, she got married to Bobby Brown who was a former New Edition singer. She had their sole daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown together on March 23, 1993. Her drug addiction began at this point and by 1996, she had been a frequent user.

Dana Bash is also known by the name of Dana Ruth Schwartz and she works as a political correspondent as well as a journalist for CNN.
